Big Easy Package

- Visore Denkmeier Std (no SCD) prismi 26mm, 1/4 lambda w.fr. trattato multistrato a/r
- 1.25" hollow nosepiece (nasello 1.25")
- raccordo 1.25"
- optical Nosepiece 1.25" (OCS)
- 1.25" OCS cell
- Part T

In particolare:

Cassegrain
1.15x
2x (1.25" hollow nosepiece e 1.25" OCS cell)

Rifrattori

Standard Newtonian Power x Switch

Standard Newtonian Power x Switch

With Newtonians
This system is designed for use in a Newtonian with a 1.25" focuser or a 2" focuser with 1.25" adapter. The Power x Switch allows any Newtonian to operate at two instant magnifications though some focus adjustment is necessary.

Pushing the Power x Switch Arm to the "IN" position allows a low 1.2X magnification and moving the Arm to the "OUT" position creates 2.5X power and the focuser is racked outward.

It's very easy to use and all Newtonians are guaranteed to reach focus in both magnification modes.

For Very Fast Dobs
Because of the steeper light cones generated by fast Newtonians with rations of F/4.5 and less, the 2" Newtonian OCS for the Power x Switch System is highly recommended (it has a very large 37mm clear aperture front element and provides superior illumination than the 1.25 OCS). By the way, this 2" version of the OCS is standard with the Denk II Newtonian Power x Switch Package.

Refractor Use
For those who own a refractor as well as a Newtonian, the Standard Newtonian Power x Switch Package may be used in a refractor with a 1.25" star diagonal. The hollow Newtonian Spacer Tube is separated from the 1.25" nosepiece that remains in the Power x Switch. 1.25" Part S is detached from the Newtonian Spacer Tube and threaded into the filter threads on the telescope-side of the star diagonal.

Coronado Filters
The 1.25" S Cell may also be used in Coronado Blocking Filter Diagonals. These BF diagonals have filter threads on the telescope side and the 1.25" S Cell must be installed when the binoviewer is used, or focus will not be possible. The binoviewer with Power x Switch can then be loaded in the front of the Coronado Diagonal for H-a use. Operation is essentially the same as with night use in a Refractor. Note: The 1.25" S Cell must be used at all times in the 1.25" Coronado Diagonal or focus and Power x Switching will not be possible. When using a Solarmax90 Telescope®, the 1.25" Refractor OCS Cell is unnecessary because that telescope has a special shortened tube designed to allow the Denkmeier Binoviewer to reach focus (see S&T Magazine Maxscope 90 Hot Product description in Jan 2004 issue).

With SCTs
This Package also operates with any SCT. With the Power x Switch Arm in the "OUT" position, magnification will be 1.15X due to the interaction of the SCT primary and secondary mirror. However, with the Power x Switch Arm in the "IN" position, the Newtonian Power x Switch will create a very large amount of focal reduction. Illumination will be poor with certain eyepieces and focus may not be possible, depending on the amount of back focus capability of the particular SCT tube assembly. The true SCT Power x Switch Package is recommended if the SCT is your primary telescope.  If 2X is desired, the 1.25" S Cell may be threaded to the binoviewer nosepiece that is threaded for 1.25" filters as well. In this way, 2 magnifications are possible when using the Standard Newtonian Power x Switch Package on SCTs.

SCTs Without Abundant Backfocus, some Maks, Classical Cassegrains, Mewlons, Tec Maks
In the event that an atypical SCT does not provide an ample amount of back focus, it may be necessary to use this package in the same way that it is used for Refractors.

When using telescopes like Questars®, Meade ETX90 and 125s®, Meade Maksutovs, Orion® Maks, Intes Micros® and some others, the 1.25" S Cell should not be installed in the star diagonal. Focal reduction will be possible using the Power x Switch in these telescopes and because of the long focal length and small relative aperture of many of these designs, reduction will be very desirable though the true SCT Power x Switch System is again, the best choice if an SCT is your primary telescope.

Power x Switch Package

This system is designed for use in a Refractor that uses a 1.25" star diagonal. It also includes a machined adapter called Part T that allows the 1.25" Refractor OCS Cell to be carried by a 2" star diagonal. Both the 1.25" and 2" star diagonals must have filter threads on their telescope side tubes. The patent pending Power x Switch allows any Refractor to operate at two instant magnifications though some focus adjustment is necessary. With the Power x Switch Arm "IN", the magnification will be 1.25X and with the Power x Switch Arm "OUT",  the magnification will be 2.5X. These factors will be somewhat higher if a 2" star diagonal is to be used.

Coronado Filters
The Refractor OCS Cell may also be used in Coronado Blocking Filter Diagonals. These BF diagonals have filter threads on the telescope side and the Refractor OCS Cell must be installed when the binoviewer is used or focus will not be possible. The binoviewer with Power x Switch can then be loaded in the front of the Coronado Diagonal for H-a use. Operation is essentially the same as with night use in a refractor. Note: The Refractor OCS Cell must be used at all times in either the 1.25" Coronado Star Diagonal or focus and Power x Switching will not be possible.

F/10 SCTs will be capable of achieving .66X focal reduction with the Power x Switch in the IN position. With the Power x Switch Arm in the OUT position, magnification will be 1.15X due to the interaction of the SCT primary and Secondary mirror. If 2X is desired, the Refractor OCS Cell may be threaded to the binoviewer nosepiece which is threaded for 1.25" filters as well as the OCS Cell. In this way, 3 magnifications are possible when using the Standard Refractor Power x Switch Package on SCTs. In the event that an unusual SCT which does not provide an ample amount of back focus is to be used, it may be necessary to use this package in the same way that it is used for refractors. This means that the Refractor OCS Cell would need to be used in the SCT diagonal filter threads at all times for focus to be achieved. Focal reduction would not be possible in this case. For the major brands of SCTs, use of the OCS cell in the diagonal will not be necessary.

With Maks,Classical Cassegrains, Mewlons, Tec Maks
With any telescope that uses a star diagonal but cannot provide the back focus necessary for the binoviewer to reach focus, the system is essentially used in the same way as it is with a refractor. Scopes like Takahashi Mewlons®, TEC Maksutovs®,Classical Cassagrains, and Tal Klestovs require the system to be used as if these scopes were refractors. Just follow the refractor instructions and remember that the OCS Cell must be installed in the star diagonal at all times.

When using telescopes like Questars®, Meade ETX90 and 125s®, Meade Maksutovs, Orion® Maks, Intes Micros® and some others, the OCS cell should not be installed. Focal reduction is possible using the Power x Switch in these telescopes and because of the long focal length and small relative aperture of many of these designs, reduction may be very desirable. Our Patent Pending Power x Switch contains the Star*Sweeper and taking advantage of this feature will no doubt prove attractive to you. With the Power x Switch Arm in the OUT position, normal magnifications will result and by adding the OCS cell to the binoviewer nosepiece and keeping the Power x Switch Arm in the OUT position, 2X magnification will result. These magnification factors are in comparison to magnification using the same eyepiece as a single the telescope with no binoviewer.

With Newtonians
If a Newtonian telescope is added and this package is owned, an additional middle spacer tube may be purchased that will allow the Newtonian to be used. This item is called The 1.25" Newtonian Spacer Tube (or formerly Part C). It threads to the 1.25" nosepiece and then the 1.25" Refractor OCS Cell is threaded to the opposite end of this Newtonian Spacer Tube. The Power x Switch will then be functional and a Newtonian will reach focus at a low and high magnification.

SCT

Power x Switch Package

This system is designed for an SCT that uses a 1.25" star diagonal or a 2" diagonal with 1.25" adapter. The patent pending Power x Switch allows any typical F/10 Meade® and Celesctron® SCT to operate at two instant magnifications though some focuser knob adjustment is necessary. With the Power x Switch Arm "IN", the magnification will be .66X and with the Power x Switch Arm "OUT", the magnification will be approximately 1.15X (this added magnification is due to the interaction of the secondary mirror and the primary mirror in an SCT).
Also included is a thread-on 1.25" 2X Multiplier  that attaches to the binoviewer 1.25" nosepiece via matching threads. It is used with the Power x Switch Arm in the OUT position and allows a third SCT Magnification of 2X (F/20) to occur.

With Refractors
This Package also operates with any Refractor using a 1.25" star diagonal with telescope-side filter threads. The 1.25" 2X Multiplier Cell must be threaded into the 1.25" filter threads located on the telescope end of the star diagonal. Then the binoviewer with the Power x Switch is loaded into the eyepiece-side of the star diagonal. The refractor will now operate at a low and higher magnification. The Power x Switch Arm is in the "IN" position for lower power, "OUT" position for higher power.

Maks,Classical Cassegrains, Mewlons, Tec Maks
With any telescope that uses a star diagonal but cannot provide the back focus necessary for the binoviewer to reach focus, the system is essentially used in the same way as it is with a refractor. Scopes like Takahashi Mewlons®, TEC Maksutovs®,Classical Cassagrains, and Tal Klestovs require the system to be used as if these scopes were Refractors. Just follow the refractor instructions and remember that the 1.25" Multiplier Cell must be installed in the star diagonal at all times.

When using telescopes like Questars®, Meade ETX90 and 125s®, Meade Maksutovs, Orion® Maks, Intes Micros® and some others, the Multiplier Cell should not be installed in the diagonal. Focal reduction is possible using the Power x Switch in these telescopes and due to the long focal length and small relative aperture inherent to many of these Mak telescopes, reduction is very desirable. Our Patent Pending Power x Switch contains the Star*Sweeper" which creates this focal reduction and taking advantage of this feature will no doubt prove attractive to you. With the Power x Switch Arm in the "OUT" position, normal magnifications will result and by adding the 1.25" Multiplier Cell to the binoviewer nosepiece and keeping the Power x Switch Arm in the "OUT" position, 2X magnification will result. These magnification factors are in comparison to magnification using the same eyepiece as a single the telescope with no binoviewer.

With Newtonians
If a Newtonian telescope is added and this Standard SCT Power x Switch Package is already owned, an additional middle spacer tube may be purchased that will allow the Newtonian to be used. This item is called the 1.25" Newtonian Spacer Tube. It threads to the 1.25" nosepiece currently attached to the binoviewer and then the 1.25" Multiplier Cell is threaded to opposite end of this spacer tube. The Power x Switch will then function and a Newtonian will reach focus at both low and high magnifications. Use the link at the top of this page to view the Manual.

Newtonians

The 1.25" Newtonian Spacer Tube assembly, 1.25" nosepiece and 1.25" Multi-Purpose OCS Cell are used as a single connected unit and threaded into the Power x Switch. This allows a Newtonian to operate at 1.5X and 2.5X by moving the Power x Switch Arm "IN", and then "OUT".

Refractors

The middle Newtonian Spacer Tube is never used with a Refractor. The 1.25" Multi-Purpose OCS Cell is threaded into the telescope-side of a 1.25" star diagonal filter threads. The Binoviewer is then loaded into the eyepiece-side of the star diagonal and low 1.4X and high 2.5X magnification will then occur when moving the Power x Switch Arm "IN" and then "OUT". If using a 2" Star Diagonal. Part T has been provided so that the 1.25" Multi-Purpose OCS Cell can be threaded into the telescope-side filter threads of the diagonal. Higher magnifications will result as compared to using this system in a 1.25" star diagonal.

SCTs

Only the binoviewer with Power x Switch and 1.25" nosepiece is used for reduction and normal magnifications. Move the Power x Switch Arm "IN" for .66X reduction and "OUT" for 1.15X (normal) magnifications. If the 1.25" Multi-Purpose OCS Cell is threaded to the 1.25" nosepiece and the Power x Switch Arm is moved to the "OUT" position, 2X magnification will result.

Maksutovs, Classical Cassegrains, Mewlons, Tec Maks

With any telescope that uses a star diagonal but cannot provide the back focus necessary for the binoviewer to reach focus, the system is essentially used in the same way as it is with a refractor. Scopes like Takahashi Mewlons®, TEC Maksutovs®,Classical Cassagrains, and Tal Klestovs require the system to be used as if these scopes were refractors. Just follow the refractor instructions and remember that the 1.25" Multi-Purpose OCS Cell must be installed in the star diagonal at all times. Focal reduction cannot be achieved in such telescopes.

When using telescopes like Questars®, Meade ETX90 and 125s®, Meade Maksutovs, Orion® Maks, Intes Micros® and some others, the 1.25" Multi-Purpose OCS Cell should not be installed in the diagonal. Focal reduction is possible when using the Power x Switch in these telescopes. Due to the long focal length, and small relative aperture inherent to Maksutovs, this is very desirable for deep sky work. Push the Power x Switch Arm to the "IN" position for focal reduction. The 1.25" Multi-Purpose OCS Cell may be threaded on for 2X magnification. The Power x Switch Arm must be moved to the OUT position.

Coronado Filter Use

This 1.25" Multi-Purpose OCS Cell may also be used in Coronado Blocking Filter Diagonals. These BF diagonals have filter threads on the telescope side and Multi-Purpose OCS Cell must be installed when the binoviewer is used or focus will not be possible. The binoviewer with Power x Switch can then be loaded in the front of the Coronado Diagonal for H-a use. Operation is essentially the same as with night use in a refractor. Note: The Multi-Purpose OCS Cell must be used at all times in the 1.25" Coronado Star Diagonal or focus and Power x Switching will not be possible. When using a Solarmax90 Telescope®, the 1.25" OCS Cell is unnecessary because that telescope has a special shortened tube designed to allow the Denkmeier Binoviewer to reach focus.
